4th of July Fireworks and Your Dog

4th of July Fireworks and Your Dog

Celebrating 4th of July in most neighborhoods can and should be a fun experience for you and your family. Unfortunately, our furry family members don't always have the same experience and are often frightened by the barrage of fireworks in the area. The good news is that CBD has proven helpful for many of our customers' dogs and so we wanted to take this opportunity to share some dosing tips and guidelines that may help you this year.

4th of July and Fireworks Recommendations

  • PRIMER DOSE: Give a low-to-mid dose in the afternoon (before 4pm).
  • FIREWORK DOSE: Give a mid-to-high dose in the evening time, 1-3 hours before you expect firework activity to start.
  • You will still want your dog to hang out in their den or safe place. They should appear more mellow and may even sleep.

Dosing will be relative to the weight of your dog. Our chews contain 2mg of highly soluble CBD per chew. Below is a chart and additional information to help with dosing. You can give these dosages up to 3 time per day depending on your dog’s needs.

If your dog is new to CBD:

If you have never given CBD to your dog, we suggest using a starting dose to see how it affects your dog before moving up. A starting dose is precautionary method and would be no different to introducing a new food or new medicine to their regimen.

Is CBD safe for my dog?

Yes! If the CBD is carefully manufactured by a reputable company, the answer is yes. Our products have never caused adverse side-effects to any of our customer’s dogs. We also take great pride in sourcing our products from only the highest quality providers. Lastly, there is 0.00% THC in our products so these chews will not get your dog “high”. While these therapies have been used for centuries for various medicinal purposes and have recently gained recognition as an effective treatment for medical conditions in humans, the truth is that there has not been a ton of research done on dogs. However, anecdotally and based on early research, CBD without THC appears to very safe and effective.
