Will I get "high" from using your products?

No. Our products contain zero THC and produce absolutely no psychoactive effects, or side effects associated with THC.

Is CBD legal?

Yes! The 2018 Farm Bill set a statute that legalized the hemp plant (cannabis sativa) as long as it contained no more than 0.3% of THC. Now, all parts of the hemp plant are federally legal to grow and utilize for commerce. 

At the state level, federal law supersedes state law per the constitution. From a regulations perspective, these products are regulated as supplements. Read more about this in our blog post.

KNOWLEDGE DROP: Just prior the 2018 Farm Bill 
We had to spend quite some time trying to figure out the answer to this question ourselves. First it is important to make the distinction between CBD derived from Hemp VS Marijuana. Under federal law, “hemp” is defined as cannabis Sativa plants with less than 0.3 percent THC. Anything with more is “marijuana.” The 2014 Farm Bill effectively made cultivation of hemp legal, but the DEA's scheduling of the plant created ambiguity. There have been further rulings, for example, a Ninth Circuit Court ruled that the DEA could not list hemp-based products under the Controlled Substances Act, thus upholding the 2014 Farm Bill legislation. The 2018 Farm Bill will officially remove Hemp from the Controlled Substances Act and eliminate any legal ambiguity.

Can I travel with CBD?

Yes! CBD extracted from the hemp plant (cannabis sativa) is federally legal in the U.S. as of 2018, which means you can travel to any state without issue. The TSA revised their policy specifically to allow CBD as long as it is legally derived from industrial hemp.

If you are traveling internationally, you should research the CBD laws in that country before traveling with our products. Yes, even if you are traveling to Canada.

What extraction methods do you use?

The CBD in our products is produced using both types of extractions, ending up with the same high-quality product. When using supercritical CO2, the extract is further purified using vacuum distillation and winterization to remove chlorophyll, waxes, and THC. After the unwanted components are removed, the resulting product is a phytocannabinoid rich oil with 60-80% CBD, minor cannabinoids, and terpenes. The second process utilizes food-grade ethanol (alcohol) as a solvent for extraction instead of CO2, followed by the same purification processes, to remove chlorophyll, waxes, and THC. The only difference between the two processes is that the first step, extraction, utilizes different solvents, but the quality remains the same. Read more about this on our blog post.

Will I fail a drug test if I use your products?

Generally speaking, if you are being subjected to a drug test, the testing party is screening for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC); the psychoactive constituent in the Cannabis plant. Since THC is inherently present in trace amounts in hemp plants, it is possible for certain hemp products to lead to a "false positive" test. However, there are many other substances that can also trigger false positive tests - some include: cold remedies (Amphetamines), poppy seeds (Opiates), and sleep aids (Barbiturates). All of these substances actually have a legal limit that is allowable and testers usually take these limits into consideration. In the case of THC, the legal limit is no more than 0.3% in any food, supplement, etc. The point is that you always run minimal risk of failing a drug test do to trace amounts of tested substances in foods or supplements you ingested. All the same, as with any substance you put in your body, use your judgment when facing a drug test scenario.
